Cost and Financial Aid

 Financial Aid

You can utilize your full financial aid package and scholarships if you choose to enroll in the Oxford Launch: London program.

You will remain fully registered as an Emory student when you participate and will receive any institutional financial aid and scholarships plus most state and federal aid you would be eligible for otherwise. The amount of summer Education Abroad assistance you are eligible for is determined by the number of credits you are registered for and your financial aid package for the applicable academic year. If you receive a financial aid package, it will be for an amount up to (but not exceeding) the amount you would have received during a domestic semester at Emory. If you would otherwise be eligible for work-study, you should speak with your financial aid advisor to learn more about your options.

Eligible students may apply the Emory Courtesy Scholarship toward academic tuition costs for an education abroad program.

If you decide to use a loan to finance your program abroad, you should begin your loan application early. The Office of Financial Aid must receive your loan approval no later than August 1st. Otherwise, you may not be able to participate in your program due to late payment.

The "billable subtotal" above lists the charges that will appear on the Emory OPUS bill. The "non-billable subtotal" above lists the additional estimated expenses. All costs are subject to change.

Non-billable Costs: Additional Estimated Expenses

The following items are only estimates of additional expenses.  These additional expenses could vary greatly depending on the individual student's spending habits, restaurant choices, personal shopping and additional travel plans:

  • Airfare: Estimated average cost of a round-trip ticket from Atlanta to London; students need to depart from Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson for London but may depart London to return to the city of their choice.
  • Books: Estimate is for the semester.
  • Personal Expenses: Estimated incidental or miscellaneous costs associated with daily living in the host city. Does not include personal travel. Expenses will vary by student and personal spending habits.
  • Local Transportation:IES Abroad will issue a local debit card to each student in the amount of £150, which IES Abroad will load in one-month increments. IES Abroad will deposit an additional £45 for transportation during the first week after arrival and cost to purchase Student Oyster Card. It is the students’ responsibility to use these funds to purchase their transportation passes each month.
  • Meals: Estimate is based on the cost of meals prepared by the student in the residence facilities provided.

Please note: The cost of living in the U.K. is currently higher than the U.S. due to the exchange rate between the British pound and the U.S. dollar.
