Career and Professional Development

Class to Career – How Life Design will help students find purpose as well as pathways .

The CPP Class to Career program will build on the Oxford Principles as we coordinate efforts to imagine pathways through the Oxford College curriculum that connect class to career discernment, but also teach basic skills that allow everyone to understand how to conduct themselves in multiple settings, how to effectively handle an interview, how to mediate trouble in the class/dorm/job and beyond, how to build capacity in themselves for the next stage of life. We want our students to leave Oxford ready to answer the question: What’s next?

Through specific Career and Professional Development workshops, collaboration with Goizueta@Ox and Pre-Health Advising, and deep connections to the Advising Support Center, Career and Professional Development at Oxford College will center each student’s personal journey as they navigate all that Oxford College has to offer.

VISION

Career and Professional Development at Oxford College seeks to meet each student where they are in terms of career discernment, discovery of options and exploration of ideas and possibilities related to their interests.

We envision a center where:

  • All students will explore, identify and actively pursue a career path consistent with their values, interests, talents, and skills – and by commencement, will have acquired ethically-grounded professional competency, life-ready resilience, and resolution in obtaining intentional post-graduate employment or continuing education opportunities.
  • Each student will access our career coaches and mentors to identify pathways that help move each student towards goals that speak to student purpose as well as ambition
  • Faculty, alumni, parents, and friends place the greatest value in partnering with Career and Professional Development to advance the professional development of students.
  • Staff value and engage in individual and collective professional development to maintain the highest competency and field expertise standards, contributing to integrity and leadership in career services.
